One of my favorite types of photography is having people in studio and exploring their relationship with the camera (and props). Beauty shots, business profiles, images for social media, kids, newborns and family portraits.

This is a project that I started in summer 2018. Going out to shoot the Perseid meteor shower in August 2018, I was fascinated by the night sky and the Milky Way and have gone out many nights thereafter to capture all kinds of nightscapes. No two nights are the same.
August 2018, next to Kloster (monastery) Kreuzberg. I was out to shoot the Perseid meteor shower but didn’t see many meteors. The milky way, which I wasn’t really thinking about when I planned this excursion, was moving across the sky, and when it began to align with the crucifixes, I decided to give it a shot before I head back home.
I locked the shutter release (meaning the camera kept shooting), and went to talk to other photographers that were there. In the morning I found this image on the memory card, and that had definitely made my week.
Living not far from Würzburg’s Marienberg Fortress (Festung), I had the chance to see it under various sky and weather conditions, always there, always impressive.
This immersive image was commended in the 2O16 Sony World Photography Awards in the Panoramic category.
